Were you born in the year of the tiger? Are you curious what that means for you? If so, this article can help explain the Chinese horoscope tiger to all of you tigers out there!

For thousands of years, the lunar cycle- based zodiac has been used in China. Because it takes the lunar cycle twelve years to complete, there are twelve animal symbols. Your Chinese horoscope is determined by the year you were born instead of the month like in our western zodiac.

Under each sign, the characteristics of occurrences in people and events correspond with the traits of that animal. The myth of how the twelve signs were chosen originated with Buddha. Before he departed from this world, he invited all the animals to a great feast. Only twelve were present. Buddha named each year after all of the twelve animals in the order by which they arrived. The tiger was the third animal to arrive.

Tigers are very compassionate, supportive, and tenderhearted. They are without a doubt the lovers of the Chinese zodiac. The tiger is very alert and attentive to the world around them. Thoughtful and reflective, they have great intelligence. Tigers are fiercely loyal, and are very assertive. They will defend their loved ones boldly and vigorously. A tiger knows what it wants and is not afraid to go after it. They make passionate lovers and true friends. Conversely, they can also be hot headed, stubborn, and impulsive.

The Chinese astrology also incorporates natural elements in their horoscopes. These elements influence the world around them. So, you are not only a tiger, but you can be specific type of tiger: water, fire, metal, earth, or wood. Water tigers are creative, highly intelligent, and hate to be alone. Fire tigers are vibrant, charismatic, and are famous for their short tempers. The metal tiger is compassionate, forgiving, and have a huge competitive streak. An earth tiger is a self-confident and thoughtful workaholic. Finally, wood tigers are the witty and charming best friends you always wanted.

Tigers are successful in careers as musicians, actors, writers, daredevils, and explorers. Did you know that Oscar Wilde and Marco Polo were tigers? For companionship, tigers should avoid monkeys and snakes. Look for joy with a dragon, horse, dog, pig, or rabbit.

If these qualities sound like you, you must be a true tiger! Considering the Chinese horoscope tiger is such a versatile and likeable character, you should be proud! Keep moving stealthily through life, but be on the alert for troublesome monkeys!

Children all over the world wear the girl’s cheung sam (or Qi Pao) for birthdays, school programs, Chinese festivals or to attend weddings. The Cheung Sam – Qi Pao is a beautiful, elegant Chinese dress that flatters kids and adult women alike.

The Cheung Sam- Qi Pao is a distinct Chinese dress style that features a high collar that is clasped at the throat, a variety of sleeves, a skirt or blouse that has slits. The collar can be closed with pretty Chinese knots. These Chinese knots may symbolize an animal or flower. The fabric of Cheung sams may vary, but it is prettiest when made in brocaded silk. Little girls can romp around comfortably in silk or cotton Cheung Sams. The Cheung Sam – Qi Pao can be can be sleeveless, or have short or long sleeves.. Sleeveless Cheung Sams let kids move freely, but short sleeved ones are also comfortable. Little girls can choose whether they want to wear a one-piece dress Cheung Sam, or a dress pants set. Pants can be worn under the Cheung Sam to add to your child’s freedom of movement. Pants with elastic band at the waist makes dressing also a lot easier.

In old historical China, during the Qing Dynasty, Manchu women wore qi pao that are long and covered a girl totally, revealing only the head, hands and tips of the feet. By 1900, after the end of the Qing Dynasty, the tailored, form-fitting qi pao was worn and popularized by socialites and high-class courtesans. As fashion expanded, so did the designs for the Cheung Sam – Qi Pao. Today, the Cheung Sam may come in a variety of modern designs, but is still as flattering as ever.

Kids may be familiar with the Cheung Sam as they can also see this pretty dress not only during formal parties or Chinese festivals. They can also see the Cheung Sam worn by girl characters in tv or videos. Chun Li from the video game Street Fighter alternates her fight clothes with Cheung Sam inspired clothes. Even Japanese anime has characters that wear the Cheung Sam or Qi Pao. Shows that may be familiar to your child and have characters that wear this Chinese dress are Shampoo from Ran Ma, Liu Mei Wang from Gundam and Jun Tao from Shaman King.

Cosplayers sometimes also wear the Cheung Sam. ( Cosplay is dressing up in anime characters’ costumes.) Cosplay Cheung Sam may be made of silk or other more unusual materials, such as rubber.

Your children may enjoy wearing their Cheung Sam for other occasions other than Chinese festivals and weddings. They may want to wear their Cheong Sam – Qi Pao during fun activities in school. Awarding of honors, instrument recitals, fairs, recognition ceremonies of summer programs are also some occasions that your child can the Chinese dress. Birthday parties may be more fun if your child is all dressed up pretty in her Cheong Sam. Halloween is also a fun holiday that doesn’t have to be all about ghosts or European princess dresses. Chinese Cheong Sam can also be used to portray favorite Chinese heroines or characters, like Mulan. Family get-togethers, especially when meeting up with relatives proud of their Chinese ancestry is also a good time for your child to wear the Cheung Sam, and please the relatives too.

The Chinese dress is a versatile dress that your kids may wear anytime for elegant beauty or for fun. Let your child wear the Cheung Sam – Qi Pao for any fun occasion all throughout the year.

“Just give me the basics!”

That’s what this Chinese pronunciation guide is all about.

It’s all that you need to know Chinese pronunciation to get by.

The 80% that’s important.

To speak Mandarin, the first thing to learn is Chinese pronunciation of words using the system known as pinyin.

Pinyin is the Romanized Chinese phonetic system and is the most effective aid to learning Mandarin today.

(Romanized means using English alphabets.)

Pinyin was invented in the 1950’s so that anyone, especially English speaking people, could learn Chinese pronunciation easily.

Most of the letters in pinyin have the same sounds as letters of the alphabet – with only a few exceptions.

It’s really a very practical pronunciation system.

Can you imagine an English speaker trying to pronounce Chinese characters without pinyin?

(By the way, pinyin is less complicated that the other forms of Romanization for Chinese pronunciation, Wade-Giles and Yale.)

First, “The Four Tones”

Chinese is a tonal language.

Each Chinese character is a syllable with a fixed tone.

A different tone is a different Chinese character and hence a different meaning.

Chinese pronunciation involves four tones, each indicated by a tone mark.

The tone marks are placed over the vowels. (If the letter “i” has a tone mark over it, the dot is removed.”

First Tone: a high, level tone represented by “-“ as in mā 妈 “mother”

Second Tone: a rising, questioning tone represented by “/” as in má 麻 “to have pins and needles”

Third Tone: a drawling tone falling then rising represented by “v” as in mǎ 马 “horse”

Fourth Tone: a sharp falling tone represented by Ӕ as in mà 骂 “to scold”

Each syllable is written as a combination of consonants and vowels, plus the tone mark. Some syllables don’t start with consonants. And the only consonants that come after vowels are are the nasal “n” or “ng”.

(note: from here on, I’m just going to use 1, 2 3, 4 to represent the four tones)

You can see the importance of getting the tones right to avoid misunderstandings and comic situations.

A friend of mine just learnt the words for “secretary” “mi4 shu1” and instead said “mystery book” “mi2 shu1”

I bet you’ve heard stories like that.

It will take some time to get the tones right cause they’re not “natural” to English speakers.

(English is my first language and I went through the same process even though I’m an Overseas Chinese.)

Don’t be put off by the tones.

Eventually you’ll get it. But just so you know, you don’t have to be perfect.

I have American friends living in Shanghai who get by fine with a flat tone.

Of course, breakdowns in communication arise now and then, but the Chinese people can see you’re a foreigner learning Chinese (i.e. their language) and they’ll try hard to make sense of what you say.

So, they’re doing all the “hard work”!

• South African Hairless

• Turkish Hairless

The “crest” in its name refers to a copious shock of silky hair that graces the dog’s head.

The Chinese Crested is found everywhere, but has never reached great popularity. It has often been exhibited in circuses and carnivals as a “freak.” However, this little dog has many assets that go unrecognized.

There are two types of the Chinese Crested:

• Hairless

• With a full coat, which is called the Powderpuff

The Powderpuff is just about identical to the hairless except for the coat. The two are interbred and shown together. If you breed a hairless to a hairless or a Powderpuff to a hairless you can end up with either type or both types of puppies. Breeding a Powderpuff to a Powderpuff will always produce the Powderpuff type puppies.

Some authors claim the origin of the Chinese Crested is Africa. Others find its origin in Mexico or any of several other warm countries. The Chinese Crested is known to have been carried by trading ships from and to many different ports where it was bought and sold. Therefore, its origin is shrouded by sea tales.

The date of origin of the Chinese Crested is considered to be during the thirteenth century. Oriental countries concentrated on breeding miniaturized dogs, so the Chinese Crested ancestors probably include some of these small, hairless mutations.

The Chinese Crested originally enjoyed a pampered life with few duties except those associated with being a good companion. Very early in the development of the Chinese Crested breed it was probably used as a ratter on trading ships and was even sometimes eaten by human residents of these trading ships (how horribly awful to think of eating such a beautiful creature).

Personality

The Chinese Crested is said to be “a nimble and cunning playmate.” He is a vigilant and sensitive house dog. The Chinese Crested is a loving and obedient pet. He socializes well with other pets and is only a little cautious of strangers. The Chinese Crested is lively and active, but is rarely seen in agility contests. He is easily trained and should do well in obedience work.

Appearance

The Chinese Crested is fine-boned and graceful. He stands about 11 to 13 inches tall and weighs 5 to 12 pounds. He is athletic-looking and well muscled. The legs of a Chinese Crested are straight and strong. The Chinese Crested has a copious shock of silky hair that graces his head. Hair is absent over much of the remainder of its body except for tufts of hair on the tail and feet.

The Powderpuff has a flowing double coat of silky hair that covers its entire body. It is seen in any coat color or combination of colors.

Exercise Requirements

As with most toy breeds the Chinese Crested needs a minimal amount of exercise which can be obtained in your backyard.

Grooming

The Chinese Crested needs to be kept clean with frequent baths using a good shampoo followed by a moisturizer like baby oil or baby lotion. This routine is especially true for the hairless type.

The Powderpuff requires regular brushing and combing. The teeth need cleaning regularly.

You will need a good-quality bristle brush and a safety razor (to shave the face) for the Hairless variety. For the Powderpuff coat you will need a good-quality bristle brush, a wide-toothed comb and clippers.

The skin of the Hairless type responds well to frequent oiling by massaging baby oil or Nivea face cream into the hairless parts. This helps to keep the skin on the Chinese Crested Hairless type smooth and nicely moisturized.

The Powderpuff puppy requires frequent brushing with a bristle or pin brush particularly when the puppy coat changes to the adult coat, at which time daily grooming may be needed. The coat of a Powderpuff Chinese Crested should be brushed in layers with the lie of the coat.

After bathing, grooming and blow-drying, the face should be shaved using clippers (10 mm blade). Take a line from the outer corner of the eye to the ear and in a gentle curve from the ear down to the “Adam’s apple.” This cut is similar to the face of a Poodle. In the U.S. the Powderpuff face is not shaved. Finish off the entire body with a wide-toothed comb if desired. The comb will find any remaining tangles in the coat. Of note in the Chinese Crested is that the dog’s nails should be moderately long.

Short Answer: They provide fast and lasting results with any disease, condition or problem that you may have.

Longer Answer: In my opinion and experience Theta Healing and BodyTalk are the fastest and most effective healing modalities available on the planet today

This may seem a high claim, so let me explain the reasons behind this statement

Before I do let me say that I have nothing against other therapies or modalities, and that I believe that every one of them has a place and is effective and has its use

For example there is no substitute for a good massage, or a juice fast! And different people are attracted to different therapies.

In Theta Healing we respect all modalities, because all can heal, but the research and experiences, both personal and of other people have convinced me that the speed and depth of results with these modalities is astounding.

On to the reasons.

1) Theta Healing works with Source/Creator of All That Is/God/Goddess.

In Theta Healing God does the healing, and that’s why healings can be instantaneous.

Vianna Stibal, the founder of Theta Healing healed instantly from a lymphoma that had destroyed her leg.

Lots of people around the world have been healed by God with Theta Healing and you can see some testimonials in a feature on Fox News that you can easily find on youtube.

Also if something isn’t clear and you need help you can always ask God!

2) Beliefs create our reality, are formed by our perception of the world and the people in it and shape it and in so doing can cause health or disease.

If there are beliefs blocking the healing, the healing won’t be instantaneous, but the beliefs can be cleared quickly and at a deep level, because as the name of the modality suggests a Theta wave is used both in the practitioner and the client

This is why the Theta Brainwave is important to healing:

Most of our beliefs are created when we are children, even though they can show up much later as disease, emotional problems, etc.

When we are children, up to at least 7 years of age we are in a Theta Brainwave most of the time

People meditate for hours sometimes to get to Theta, while most people above 7 years of age experience Theta just when they’re sleeping and dreaming

The theta brainwave is used also in hypnosis, and that is why anything said to a child is literally downloaded into the subconscious

If you say to your child “you’ll never amount to anything” this goes straight into their subconscious. (How they perceive it and whether the will accept it depends on their basic personality and on previous belief systems)

Every condition has a set of beliefs that keep it in place even if other factors like toxins or microbes are present, since why would you attract them in the first place?

Changing the beliefs = Heal

Healing is not limited to physical healing, chronic anger is a sickness, poverty is a sickness, disconnection from Creator is one of the biggest ones

Working to change beliefs from a waking beta state is like trying to move a 10000 pound rock with one hand

You can work on beliefs from an alpha state, but my experience has shown that they can resurface after some time

The alpha wave is very soothing and relaxing, and takes away pain, but it’s usually not deep enough to change the subconscious with a lasting effect

This is why hypnosis has such a great record when it comes to results, it puts you in a Theta state

There are lots of differences between Theta Healing and hypnosis though:

Theta Healing lets God come into the equation and doing so it’s like plugging in a limitless power source that does the healing and the change of beliefs from a deep level.

Theta Healing is faster than hypnosis, it can literally takes seconds to get into Theta and change a belief

You can download feelings and Creator’s Perspective, Understanding and Definition, which brings me to the third point

3) If you have never felt a feeling you can download it from Creator, and you can also download Creator’s Perspective, Understanding and Definition of anything

There are some feelings you may never have experienced in your life, and most never in the true form, for they are distorted by our beliefs and perceptions.

For example, your idea of feeling happy may be spending a day with your family, while for somebody else may be spending a day alone.

Happiness for someone may mean a tv dinner and a movie, or a walk in nature.

But what is the pure definition of happiness? And what does it really feel like?

Who can have a purest perspective of anything than God? Downloading feelings and perspectives from Creator allows us to feel the happiness, the joy, or even subtler and more precise things like what it feels like to feel the approval and love of a mother.

Some feelings are sometimes needed in order to heal. For instance, one of the first things that are done in Theta Healing are standard downloads of feelings of unconditional love.

Unconditional love is the energy of the universe, and you would be blocking the healing if you didn’t know what unconditional love feels like, that you know how to receive it and that you deserve it and you’re worthy of it.

More specific downloads are personal to each person and to each condition.

4) Theta Healing and BodyTalk can tackle other variables contributing to the illness

Cancer because of a virus can be caused by belief systems that have allowed it the virus to be drawn to you in the first place and that have allowed your body to become vulnerable to it, but sometimes your body prefers you to work at a different, more physical level too.

This is where BodyTalk comes in. BodyTalk works with the Innate Wisdom of the body, which in my view is another way of saying our higher self or an aspect of our soul which is more directly connected to All That Is/Creator/God/Goddess/Source

The body when in balance is like a beautiful symphony, but if an organ is playing out of synch there can be dis-ease.

In the BodyTalk System there is a protocol, with things like microbes, toxins, organs, meridians and environmental.

With a neuromuscular feedback all the different factors like these are tested and linked together, to form an equation of factors that the brain and the rest of the body can readily understand and correct.

The detail to which BodyTalk can go is limited only by the knowledge of the practitioner. It differs greatly from Kinesiology for many reasons:

a) The testing is different and more subtle and much deeper;

In kinesiology the testing is to find out if the subconscious of the person believes a certain statement or not

In BodyTalk the testing is to find out what is needed to heal and in which priority they are needed, and the questions are asked to a deeper part of ourselves

b) As said above the detail depends only by the knowledge of the BodyTalk practitioner, the protocol and the possibilities are endless

Sometimes it’s important to be specific to get quick and lasting results, sometimes Innate Wisdom wants you to be extra specific

For example, if the liver is the priority to be treated the detail can range from the cells of the liver to a specific duct, from one aspect of the consciousness of the liver, like organization, to an imbalance in the Chinese elements in the liver, like wood and fire

c) BodyTalk works with priorities

The order of treatment is important and it is something often overlooked in many therapies.

If you decide that you want to do a liver cleanse but your elimination system is not ready to receive the toxins coming from the liver you may have what is usually called a healing crisis. Better first to get prepared before dumping waste!

A healing crisis is not something unavoidable or necessary; most of the time it’s just the result of not following the right order of treatment

In BodyTalk we ask the Innate Wisdom what the right priority is, and most of the time a session can be general and address other complaints of the client as well as or before addressing the major complaint, to get the environment of the body ready.

In Theta Healing, although we almost always work with a specific problem of the client, during a sessions we can ask God what to do, what to change, and what the cause of something is and we can quickly correct it.

Theta Healing can be used to treat different contributing factors too

There are ways to clear toxins, mold, viruses, and balance the heavy metals in the body

Sometimes spirits can be a factor, draining your energy like parasites

Did you know there are spirit attracted to people with particular addiction, like alcohol or drugs, because of the vibration they emit, and that these spirits can trasmit thoughts and vibrations to the person making it much more difficult to quit?

You also could have lost a fragment of your soul, a part of your essential energy, in a heated discussion or to a person you now miss constantly and this can make it more difficult if not impossible to heal as you should

5) Theta Healing and Bodytalk are really vast in their applications

Similar to reason 4, with Theta Healing there are so many different things that can be done, for instance, you can talk with our Guardian Angel, or your ancestors.

You can use Theta Healing and BodyTalk to heal your pet or your plants, and you can use Theta Healing to clear and program objects with specific feelings.

It goes without saying that you can use especially Theta Healing to improve your spiritual life and to live better, and also to manifest what you want in life, for instance money or finding your soulmate.

Thank you for reading this longer answer. I hope has given you some insight as to why I made the bold statement at the beginning of the page

Are there times where I want to take a nice detox tea as well as getting a session? Yes

Are there times when I prefer to take an ibuprofen pill instead of immediately digging for the cause? Yes, especially if there’s no Theta Healer I can reach, since I find it more difficult to work on myself when in pain!

Do I like some Color Therapy, Aromatherapy, Reiki, Quantum Touch or you name it? Yes, sometimes I like having a session of another therapy, they make me feel good and they fulfill a particular need.

It’s great to fall asleep or relax while doing Reiki to yourself!

Would I entrust my health and healing to any other therapy other than Theta Healing and BodyTalk? Definitely No

What’s the secret to getting slim thighs? First, let me tell what it is not. You will never get the legs you want just by using those traditional leg machines at your gym or by doing day after day of boring cardio.

The reality is that you always see people at the gym doing this stuff and never seeing the results they want.

The real secret to getting your thighs slim involves 3 components: 1) proper nutrition, 2) strength training and 3) cardio (but not the typical kind of cardio everyone does).

1. Proper Nutrition: I am going to be honest with you. You will never ever get slimmer thighs if you don’t put the right foods in your body. It doesn’t matter how great your workout routine is or what you may have heard or read. If you eat the wrong foods your body will maintain or store more body fat around your midsection, your arms, your butt and your thighs.

And fat is what blurs the visibility of the underlying muscles. When you have excess body fat you cannot see any muscular definition.

So, if you want to get your thighs slimmer you have to eat enough of the right kinds of nutritious, fat burning foods that will help keep your legs sexy and lean.

A great rule of thumb I tell my clients is to make sure you eat at least 5 small meals each day. But, all 5 are not really “meals”.

3 are meals and 2 are snacks. So, it looks like this:

Breakfast

Snack

Lunch

Snack

Dinner

Getting into the habit of eating more frequently is how you start to boost your metabolism to burn fat so you can begin to get slim thighs much faster than if you eat fewer meals.

2. Strength Training: Usually when I tell women they need strength training to make their thighs slimmer they look at me like they’ve just seen a ghost.

“But, I don’t want to get bulky muscles” is a typical response I get. I don’t know where this myth came from but I want to clarify something here.

Getting “bulky” muscles just from strength training is 100% pure myth. Here’s why. Building the kind of muscle mass that you see on a bodybuilder is absolutely unrealistic for the majority of people especially women.

Women naturally have lower levels of testosterone which makes it more difficult to build muscle mass versus men.

Here is something else to consider. If you want slim thighs with nice “tone” you have to possess a certain level of muscularity anyway.

You can burn all the body fat you want but if you don’t have any real muscle on your legs your slim thighs will look more like toothpicks instead of sexy legs with curves.

That doesn’t mean you will “bulk up”. You simply fit the level of muscularity to match your goal. Adding some lean muscle to your thighs will give you that sexy curvacious appeal you are looking for.

And that comes from intense strength training and not from doing the leg machines at the gym with light weights and lots of repetitions.

You will never get slimmer thighs with nice definition that way. You have to lift heavier and smarter with just the right amount of rest in between to allow your body to recuperate which is when your thighs slim down.

Try these thigh slimming exercises to get you started:

squats

forward lunge walks

sideways lunge walks

box or bench jumps

3. Cardiovascular Training I never said no cardio. I said not the traditional cardio everyone else does. I am going to suggest a different twist on your typical cardio routine that will burn more calories and fat while stimulating your thighs to add some lean, sexy muscle tone.

Getting your thighs slim requires the combination of sufficient muscularity and low body fat.

Your muscles lie underneath a layer of fat cells. Fat cells store body fat. The more fat you carry the bigger your fat cells become and the less visible your muscles are.

So, to see those slim thighs underneath you also need to burn the fat from your fat cells.

Here’s a tip to get you started:

Perform 90% Heart Rate Peaks- Instead of doing the typical marathon cardio workout in your “fat burning zone” you are going to perform a much higher intensity workout but for a shorter time period.

This will allow you to burn more calories and fat long after your workout is over. Here is what you do:

Use the formula 220 – your age to get a number. Now, multiply that number by .85 and write down the product. Next, multiply the number by .75 and write down that product. The 2 products are your low and high end heart rate ranges.

Example for a 35-year old: 220 – 35 = 185

185 X .85 = 157

185 X .75 = 138

Heart rate range would be 138 (low end) to 157 (high end).

You will perform your cardio workout on any piece of equipment of your choice. Warm up for 5 minutes by gradually building your heart rate up to your low end range (138 in the above example).

Then you will increase the intensity until your heart rate peaks at your high end range (157 beats per minute in the above example).

Once you reach your high end range you immediately drop the intensity and recover back down to yoru low end range. Once you reach your low end range peak back up again.

Repeat this process of peaking and recovering for 30 minutes. Then record the total number of times you peaked to your high end range.

The next time you perform this you will try to beat the total number of peaks.

Cool down for 5 minutes by gradually decreasing the intensity until your heart rate is at your low end range or lower.

Stretch for 5-10 minutes.

And there you have it. The real secret to getting slim thighs is by adding some lean fat burning, thigh slimming muscle and dropping your body fat levels low enough to see those sexy trim legs.

Get Relief for Hot Flashes and Night Sweats related to Menopause

It seems like the late 30’s or early 40’s should be when women can have the time of her lives. The kids are probably gone, or at least a little grown up, and the career choices have been made.

Unfortunately, your hormones will soon begin changing and you may soon start gong into menopause. While menopause should be a reason to celebrate (no more monthly cycles), many women experience irritating side effects when there is less of the hormone estrogen in the system. The most common side effect is hot flashes (or hot flushes, as some call them when they cause flushing or redness of the skin).

Only 15% of women do not suffer from hot flashes, for the rest of us, the flashes can last from five to fifteen minutes at a time. Medical professionals have not determined how to tell how long (in months) they will continue. Because the body is trying to compensate to the lower estrogen levels, as soon as it figures out the proper adjustment, the hot flashes will stop.

One way medical science has decided to compensate is with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), which calls for a prescription of Estrogen pills, or a skin patch, to help estrogen levels go back to where they once were. Unfortunately, once you stop taking the pills, your body has to try to compensate again, and the hot flashes will reoccur. However, it is sometimes possible to decrease the dose of estrogen gradually, allowing the body to adjust more slowly.

But there are there natural alternatives for chemical HRT. And it’s sad that less than two percent of doctors even mention alternative therapies (maybe because the pharmaceuticals make more money on the Estrogen Replacement Therapy). Thousands of women have tested natural therapies and agree that they work! There are a few natural things you should consider if you’re not ready to put another chemical into your body.

Natural Care for Hot Flashes or Night Sweats

When hot flashes occur at night, you will experience night sweats (or worse yet, cold sweats). In the worst cases, sweating can get excessive and soak bedding and nightgowns. Here are a few things that you can do stay as comfortable as possible.

During the day, dress in layers so you can remove items, and put them back on when the hot flash is finished.

At night, wear cotton underwear and gowns that will absorb perspiration. These keep you cooler than synthetic garments.

Most importantly, start keeping a record of your daily routine and try to determine when you are most likely to get a hot flash. Certain foods or drinks can cause an increase in the amount and severity of the hot flash. Watch out for alcohol (especially red wine), caffeine, sugar, fatty dairy products, salt, spicy foods, saturated oils and monosodium glutamate (added to prepared foods to enhance flavor).

Last but not least, there are some herbs that contain healthy compounds that have proven to be affective. One of the main herbs is Black Cohosh, which is a thoroughly researched herb containing phytoestrogens and is approved by the German ‘Kommission E” – a body similar to the FDA. You can find Black Cohosh in the appropriate portions in MellowPause.

In the case of severe menopausal symptoms, it is recommend that MellowPause be taken together with Dong Quai, which has been used for many centuries in traditional Chinese medicine.

In time this too shall pass. Menopause usually ends by the age of 51; but hot flashes may, if you’re lucky, end much sooner than that.
