Why you should NOT drink iced drinks.

There’s a saying in Chinese medicine that goes: “ABOVE ALL ELSE, PROTECT YOUR DIGESTION.” By “digestion”, they mean processing of both FOOD and FLUIDS. Think about this…

If you aren’t processing FOODS properly, you aren’t turning food into BLOOD and ENERGY (“Qi,” as the Chinese call it) for your organs to function properly – so your organs are literally “fatigued” and can’t perform their jobs well.

Your heart CAN’T function. Your lungs can’t function. Your kidneys, bladder, liver, gall bladder, stomach and intestines are all “fatigued” and can’t do their job.

And, your IMMUNE SYSTEM doesn’t have the energy to protect you from cancer, colds, flu, radiation, etc.

And that’s just the problems with not processing foods. If you’re not processing FLUIDS properly…

..fluid collects in your tissues (Chinese medicine calls this condition “Dampness”.)

This FLUID ultimately congeals, and becomes a condition called “Phlegm” (this includes, but is not the same as, having phlegm or mucus.)

This “Phlegm” leads to obesity, depression, urinary infections, dementia, seizures, cysts and tumors, sinus headaches, allergies, all breathing problems like sinusitis, asthma, COPD, and a host of other problems.

Furthermore… the processing of food and fluids includes ELIMINATION… so you will have problems with constipation, diarrhea and urination.

*************Sidebar****************

If you look through my website at www.natural-health-remedies.net you’ll see that all the diseases listed there have improper eating as one of the main causes of that condition.

In some cases, the problems come directly from the food itself. But, in most cases, the problem comes from how the food negatively affects your digestion, with the weakened digestion then leading to the disease condition.

************************************

So, how do COLD DRINKS damage your ability to process food and fluids?

Here’s a simple analogy…

When you put water on the stove, it moves faster… there’s more activity.

When you put water in the freezer, it slows down (freezes)… there’s less activity.

Cold DECREASES activity. Heat INCREASES activity.

Chinese medicine describes the act of digestion as a WARM process. Energy (and life itself) is warm. When we are dead, we’re stone cold dead…

It has been shown through THOUSANDS of years of observation in China that, if we drink chilled or cold liquids, we decrease our digestive activity.

We HURT this warm process of digestion (cold negates heat).

FIRST OF ALL, this causes food and liquid to be digested poorly. Similar to when your car can’t completely combust fuel, food isn’t digested properly and you’re left with a sludge (which, in Chinese Medicine, is called “STAGNANT FOOD” and/or “PHLEGM”.)

That “SLUDGE” is often the ROOT CAUSE of problems such as a weak immune system, weight gain, fatigue, cysts, allergies, sinusitis and certain types of headaches.

SECONDLY, warming up the cold fluids CONSUMES energy (heat), leaving you with a net loss of energy.

THIRD, your weakened digestion now can’t produce good quality energy from the food you eat, leaving you with less energy for your organs to function properly…

..do you get the picture? You can (and will) end up with nearly every disease imaginable.

What to do about this?

You MIGHT be lucky enough to have strong digestion and not feel too affected by cold drinks. Consider yourself blessed. But, if you’re already in a somewhat weakened state…

..drinking COLD drinks might be one of the “straw’s” that breaks the camels back. Here’s my advice:

If you have ice water with your meals, stop.

If you drink your drinks cold from the refrigerator, stop.

Drink no more than a teacup of room temperature or warm water (or green tea) with your meals.

If you eat at restaurants, tell the waiter “No ice, please!”

One the biggest offenders is the ice water you get out at the restaurant. Just before eating a big meal, you put out your “digestive fire” (read that as DAMAGE your digestion) with that freezing cold water. Big mistake!

Iced drinks really aren’t good for anybody. Nature didn’t intend for us to frequently drink cold or frozen liquids. Refrigerators and freezers are extremely recent in terms of the history of human diet.

Not to mention, there’s just not a lot of refrigerators out there in nature!

*** Think about the implications of COLD FOODS here, too. Obviously, they’re equally damaging. ***

It may take some getting used to, but drinking room temperature or warmer water is a good first step toward being healthier.

People used crystals for centuries for healing and magical rituals. Their very appearance is mystifying so it’s no wonder that the Western world latched onto the use of crystals as an alternative medical treatment. Edgar Cayce, an American insurance representative who went into trances to heal people, read the past and future was the person who first made crystal healing popular in America. His uncanny accuracy about people and events that occurred at great distances from him gave him credibility when he talked of the lost city of Atlantis in the 1930’s. He told of the amazing power of the crystal and how the citizens of Atlantis used that power for energy, communication and power. Today, we use crystal substances in our computers.

The belief that the crystal is a tool that magnifies and isolates the energy of the universe to heal specific areas of the body has long been a tool for ancient healers. The colour of the stone used depends on the part of the body they attempt to heal. The “prana” from India and “chi” of Chinese medicine both are life forces that circulate through the body. The chakra is the energy whorls located at various spots where the prana exists. In Chinese medicine, the chi follows a meridian and circulates. The use of crystals, in both cases, is to either enhance the energy or unblock it at specific points.

Originally, there were many chakra points, but now there are seven, which are commonly used. The root chakra located on the tailbone uses garnet, bloodstone, rubies and onyx to bring energy. The sacral chakra in the abdomen below the navel vibrates to carnelian, moonstone and hematite. The solar plexus chakra in the area directly above the navel uses citrine, amber and topaz. If you need to improve your heart, use rose quartz or Chinese fluorite. Aquamarine and turquoise are the healers for the throat chakra and the forehead chakra requires amethyst, sapphire or turquoise and the crown chakra uses amethyst and clear quarts. While these are traditional, some crystal healers use simply clear quarts in their practice.

Sometimes the person receiving the healing energies lies as the person versed in crystal healing places the stones on the various charkas. Other times, there is no formal session but the person seeking healing carries the crystal in their pocket or a specially made cloth bag pinned near the chakra. Those that carry the stone often seek emotional healing and carry the crystal closely associated with the body part known to create that emotion.

While there is some research into the area of crystal healing, most of the scientific community believes that the healing comes from the placebo effect. Information regarding the electromagnetic force of the body, however, could change that. Doctors use MRI machines to check people’s health every day. EKG’s and EEG’s record the body’s electrical charge. This is nothing more than their life force. Crystals are part of the civilized world’s economy. When you turn on your computer, crystals bring the communication of the world to your desktop. While no one knows whether crystals do the same for the body, it’s one possibility that many people believe and use as an alternate method of healing on a daily basis.

by: LynnDonn

More and more women are seeking natural alternative treatments for symptoms of menopause, for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the most compelling reason for many is the association between conventional hormone replacement therapy and a number of serious health risks, including an increased risk of breast cancer and blood clots, although the link has by no means been proven, and the issue is currently the subject of serious debate among women’s health experts. Many women have experienced unpleasant side effects resulting from conventional HRT, including nausea, headaches and vaginal bleeding. Many women simply feel apprehensive at the thought of taking drugs which have been manufactured synthetically.

The whole notion of returning to old fashioned herbal treatments and folk remedies has a certain comforting, romantic appeal. Some of the herbal medicines which are being rediscovered have been used to treat a range of ailments for literally thousands of years. There is a commonly held belief that medicines derived from natural sources are necessarily free from the risk of negative side effects, harmful interactions and allergic reactions. This is simply not true. Whatever kind of medication you choose to take, it’s essential that you fully understand how it works, what dosage level is appropriate for you, and what objective research has been done on its effectiveness and its potential hazards. Your doctor is the best person to provide you with professional, individual advice and attention. Information you find online and in women’s health publications is a useful supplement to your doctor’s advice, and it’s wise to read as widely as you can to get an overall picture of the issues. Your health is the most important thing you have, and while you are free to make your own choices about treating menopause symptoms, it’s vital that you make these choices with your eyes open.

Most experts believe that all of the common symptoms of menopause are caused by the dramatic decline and fluctuations in the body’s levels of estrogen and to some extent progesterone, and the imbalance between them. Approaches to alleviating symptoms generally focus around restoring these hormone levels. Natural treatments are typically made from extracts of plants containing substances which are very similar to the estrogen and/or progesterone produced by the ovaries. The effectiveness of these treatments relies on the assumption that these phytoestrogens and plant progesterones have a similar effect in the body to the body’s own natural hormones. Some herbal treatments work by stimulating glands to produce natural hormones more effectively, rather than restoring the hormones artificially.

Another approach is to treat each symptom individually. There is a range of natural treatments which focus specifically on alleviating common symptoms such as hot flashes, depression, libido problems, vaginal dryness and fatigue.

Estrogen treatments.

Soy

By far the richest source of phytoestrogens (sometimes called “isoflavones”) is soybeans, and foods made from soy extracts. Soy can be consumed in the form of tofu, soy cheese, meat substitute products such as soy burgers, breads and muffins made with soy flour, and soy drinks, sometimes known as “soy milk”. Some studies have shown that consuming soy beverages or breads made with soy flour twice daily can reduce the severity or the number of hot flashes, but results have been inconclusive and inconsistent. Soy powders and pills contain much higher levels of phytoestrogens than soy foods, and may have a more significant effect in alleviating menopause symptoms than soy foods, but little is known about the potential hazards. Consuming soy extracts and soy foods may have a range of other health benefits, including reducing the risk of osteoporosis, cancer and heart disease, and lowering cholesterol. Some studies suggest that phytoestrogens may actually help to reduce the risk of breast cancer by blocking the overproduction of natural estrogen in the body.

Herbs containing phytoestrogens

Red clover has been used in Asia for thousands of years to treat skin conditions, asthma, bronchitis, kidney stones, joint disorders and breast inflammation. It is thought to work by improving circulation and stimulating urine and mucous production, or “purifying the blood”. Red clover has been recently discovered to contain high levels of phytoestrogens, and its usefulness in the treatment of menopause symptoms is being investigated. Some studies have shown the herb to be very effective in reducing hot flashes and improving bone density and strength, while others have been inconclusive.

Dong Quai is an important herb used in Chinese medicine, and has been used to treat PMS, menstrual irregularities and menopause symptoms for thousands of years, although its effectiveness has yet to be clinically verified by Western health practitioners. It is also believed to dilate blood vessels, and is used to treat high blood pressure and circulatory problems.

Black Cohosh

Black cohosh is commonly believed to contain phytoestrogens, although clinical studies to confirm this have been far from conclusive. It is a perennial plant native to North America, and is also known as black snakeroot, bugbane, rattleroot and macrotys. The plant has a long history of usefulness as a medicinal treatment, first by Native American people and more recently by alternative health practitioners, and has been used to treat a range of gynecological ailments including menopause symptoms, infertility, inflammation of the uterus and ovaries, and to induce lactation, bring on menstruation, and alleviate labor pains. It has also been used to treat rheumatism, fever, coughs and colds, hives and backache. Some studies have shown that taking pills made from black cohosh extract is very helpful in providing short term relief from a range of menopause symptoms including hot flashes, depression, mood swings and anxiety. However, little is known about the effects of taking the treatment in the long term, and some negative side effects have been reported, including headaches, stomach and gastric discomfort and weight gain.

Maca

Peruvian Maca root is believed to work by stimulating glands in the body to produce their own estrogen and testosterone. Maca has been cultivated in the Andes region for perhaps thousands of years, and has been used as a treatment to increase energy, enhance libido and increase fertility. Maca root is claimed to provide a range of benefits, including alleviating PMS symptoms, reducing depression and stress, increasing athletic ability and creating a general sense of well being. It is also claimed to be effective in treating a wide range of menopausal symptoms, including mood swings, depression, irritability, anxiety, fatigue, hot flashes, reduced libido, sleep disturbances and breast tenderness. Objective clinical research into the effectiveness and the potential hazards of taking Maca root supplements is very scant.

Progesterone treatments.

An alternative view of the causes of menopause symptoms places more emphasis on the role of progesterone, and the imbalance between progesterone and estrogen. “Estrogen dominance” is a recently identified syndrome, and is believed by a small number of doctors to be the cause of severe PMS and menstrual problems in early adulthood, and a range of severe symptoms as menopause approaches. Advocates of progesterone treatments believe them to be free from the health risks and side effects associated with estrogen based treatments.

Natural progesterone cream

Natural progesterone creams usually contain extracts from Mexican wild yam, which contains a substance which is believed to be similar to the progesterone produced in the body. The creams are applied to the parts of the body where the skin is thinner, such as the breasts, inner thighs, inner forearms or stomach, and are believed to pass through the skin and circulate through the body. Many women have found natural progesterone creams to be very effective in treating menopause symptoms, but there is no evidence to show that the creams lower the risk of breast and uterine cancer, or are free from the risk of side effects as is sometimes claimed.

Chaste tree berry

Chaste tree berry, sometimes known as Chasteberry or Vitex agnus castus has been used since ancient Greek times to treat a range of ailments. It is believed to stimulate the production of progesterone, and has been shown to be very effective in alleviating severe PMS and a range of menopausal symptoms

Natural remedies for perimenopause and menopause symptoms.

Acupuncture forms part of traditional Chinese medicine. Included are Chinese herbalism, tai chi and chi kung. It is believed that traditional Chinese medicine originated around 2500BC and is one of the oldest forms of treatment. Acupuncture did not really become well known in Western countries until the 1950s, except for the few Chinese practitioners treating Chinese patients in those countries such as Britain. Today, even some orthodox physicians are trained in acupuncture and are incorporating it with western medicine and achieving great results.

Acupuncture is centered on Tao philosophy, like the other forms of Chinese medicine. It is based on the philosophy that a vital energy (force) flows along invisible channels in the body with the inseparable opposing forces of yin and yang, which govern each person. ‘Yin’ is a masculine, active and positive force and ‘yang’, a female, passive and negative force. When this energy (chi) freely flows through these invisible channels (meridians) and the yin and yang are balanced, the result is health. If the yin and yang are unbalanced and the chi is blocked, the results become noticeable in the form of illness. The purpose therefore of acupuncture is to correct these imbalances and unblock the meridians, allowing the chi to flow freely once again in the body restoring the patient to physical health. Another form of acupuncture called auricular therapy is based solely on the external ear, which contains its own acupuncture points. This type of therapy is very useful for acute conditions.

People suffering from allergies, asthma, bronchitis and other conditions may benefit by acupuncture. Acupuncture is also helpful in relieving pain. Acupuncture aids the body to release its very own pain-reliever, known as endorphins, which has effects similar to morphine. The success of the acupuncture also depends on the responsiveness of the patient. Some people seem to be more responsive than others especially children that receive treatment.

During the initial consultation the practitioner will ask questions about the patients history, the present complaint, life style, diet and exercise routines and emotional health. Skin colour, the state of the nails, eyes and tongue, body odour and careful examination of the pulse points form part of the diagnosis. The human body contains 59 meridians and about 1000 pressure points. To treat imbalances the acupuncturist will stimulate the pressure points that occur along the meridians. Inserting fine, solid needles into the skin, applying heat and fingertip pressure form part of stimulation. The points involved are usually found on the forearms, hands, feet and lower legs. Sometimes all three methods of stimulation may be used. Treatment may include recommendations on diet and exercise.

Always ensure you choose a fully trained and registered practitioner when seeking acupuncture treatment. Inform the practitioner of any orthodox treatment you may be receiving before diagnosis or treatment in acupuncture. Acupuncture is most often used in conjunction with Chinese herbalism, as it can be contraindicated with some forms of complementary therapy. Parents should always consult an acupuncturist who has had special training in the treatment of children, before embarking on a diagnosis in acupuncture. The treatment for children will consist mainly of fingertip pressure (acupressure) to the relevant acupuncture points, rather than applying the more traditional method of needles.

Prostate cancer alternative treatments is defined as a group of unique approaches to cancer treatment not considered to be a conventional prostate cancer therapy, and is used in place of conventional cancer treatments.

Prostate cancer is an attack of the male prostate gland by a mass of harmful cells. Prostate cancer is most common in the United States and is the third leading cause of American cancer cases. The American Cancer Society estimates that one in six men will face a prostate cancer diagnosis during their life.

Types of Alternative Prostate Cancer Treatments

Chinese Medicine is one of the alternative methods being used to treat prostate cancer. Also commonly called Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this holistic prostate cancer treatment is based on ancient philosophical frameworks. Traditional Chinese Medicine devises therapy programs by searching for inequalities between internal and external harmony within patients. There are eight branches of TCM: Tui na (Massage Therapy), acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese food therapy, Qigong (Breathing), T’ai Chi Ch’uan, Feng Shui, and Chinese astrology. The eight branches of Chinese medicine, like most other prostate cancer alternative treatments, are used to alleviate the pain associated with the disease, as well as a remedy for the side effects affiliated with conventional cancer treatments.

Herbalism, or herbal medicine, is a holistic prostate cancer alternate treatment with the healing properties of plants and plant extracts at the center of the therapy. Some of the most popular components of herbal medicine include St. John’s Wort, lemon juice, Green Tea, Honey, Grapefruit, Black Cohash, Poultices, Juniper Berry, and Eucalyptus. Herbal therapy is especially highly regarded in Europe.

Alternative Prostate Cancer Treatments vs. Conventional Prostate Cancer Therapies

Conventional prostate cancer therapies are administered by members of the medical community, including physical therapists, psychologists, and nurses. Conventional cancer treatments are subjected to intense study to ensure their effectiveness and safety. Hormone therapy and radiation are conventional therapies for treating prostate cancer. Removing the testicles, in a surgical procedure called orchiectomy, is another traditional prostate cancer treatment. As is chemotherapy. Cancer cells are also customarily frozen as a part of a cryosurgery.

There are two common surgical procedures used to treat prostate cancer. They are the radical prostatectomy and the transurethal resection of the prostate (TURP). Radical prostatectomy surgery is generally performed once the cancer has not spread outside of the prostate gland. There are two types of radical prostatectomy procedures, the radical retropubic and the perineal approach. The transurethal resection of the prostate is performed to curtail prostate swelling.

Luteinizing hormone-releasing analogs and luteinizing hormone-releasing antagonists are prostate cancer medications designed to inhibit the release of the cancer-inducing luteinzing hormone-releasing hormone from the brain. Luteinizing altering drugs are a staple in prostate cancer conventional treatments.

Prostate cancer alternative treatments are not characterized by the same level of study or scrutiny-signifying the greatest difference between alternative prostate cancer treatments and most traditional methods of treating the disease.

As we mentioned in previous articles, infertility is defined as the inability of a couple to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It affects over 5 million couples alone in the U. S. and many times more in the world. Because of an unawareness of treatments, only 10% seek help from professional specialists. We have spent most of the time in this series discussing conventional and Chinese medicines in treating fertility. I believe, it is the best time to change the subject by discussing how to treat infertility with Chinese herbs–cistanche.

I. Definition
Cistanche is also known as rou cong rong. It is a holoparasitic desert plant belonging to the family Orobanchaceae. It has been used in tradition Chinese medicine for replenishing blood and Kidney-Jing.

II. How cistanche affects fertility
1. Sexual desire
It is said that cistanche helps to improve kidney function in regulating the production of steroid growth hormones by replenishing the kidney jing as well as retaining enough fluids in the reproductive organs, resulting in an increased production of testosterone and the chance of fertility.

2. Nervous system
It also contains chemicals that help to stimulate bone marrow in production of red blood cells and it improves blood circulation by decreasing the high blood pressure, resulting in lessening nervous symptoms, such as a lack of energy, fatigue, stress, and tiredness.

3. Blow flow to the reproductive organs
Besides reducing the levels of high blood pressure, it also stimulates the blood flow to the reproductive organs that not only helps to increase sperm quality and count in men and restores the normal menstrual cycle in women, but also treat erectile dysfunction.

4. Kidney
Cistanche also contains substances that help to restore kidney function by balancing the yin and yang qi, resulting in helping the kidney in releasing the qi and blood stagnation in the abdominal region and increasing the chance of fertility and egg implantation into the uterine lining.

5. Constipation
Cistanche also helps to improves the function of the bowels, resulting in healthy bowel movements, leading to increased qi in the digestive system and increasing the digestive system in cleansing toxins, and vitamins and mineral absorption.

III. Side effects
It is no known of side effect. It may be toxic if overdosed.

This article is a brief summary at best which attempts to describe the relationships in a complex system – our body.

Chinese Medicine has a powerful advantage over western based medicine – it is holistic and looks for the cause of a health issue.

The five elements is an esoteric approach which links energy pathways in the body.

After all, if we can command energy then we can control our health – more on Qi later.

There is no absolute law in the system of the Five Elements.

The classical Chinese view of the universe denies the possibility of absolutes.

The laws of the Five Elements are descriptions of the tendencies toward transformation within the framework of Five Elements.

In the human body the relationship between the 5 elements and the organs( zang-fu) can be seen.

Elements – Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water

Zang (Yin) – Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lung, Kidney

Fu(Yang) – Gall Bladder, Small Intestine, Stomach, Large Intestine, Bladder

Sense organs – Eye, Tongue, Mouth, Nose, Ear

Tissues – Tendon, Vessel, Muscle, Skin/Hair, Bone

Emotions – Anger, Joy, Worry, Grief/Melancholy, Fright/Fear

Notes – Jiao, Zheng, Gong, Shang, Yu

As a convention of expression, the energies of the Five Elements may be said to possess the following creative powers.

Wood tends to create Fire

Fire tends to create Earth

Earth tends to create Metal

Metal tends to create Water

Water tends to create Wood

The Controlling Cycle brings harmony and balance via complementary and opposite tendencies. It is a check in what would otherwise be an unending increase.

The Controlling Cycle

Wood tends to control Earth

Earth tends to control Water

Water tends to control Fire

Fire tends to control Metal

Metal tends to control Wood

Broken Balance

The Over Acting and Insulting sequences handle the abnormal relationship among the Five Elements when the balance is broken.

The Over Acting Cycle is the same pattern as the Controlling Cycle except each Element over-acts on another by one Element being in excess energetically.

The Insulting Cycle is the reverse of the Over Acting Cycle. This cycle handles energetics that is opposite to the Over Acting Cycle.

The Five Elements have Ten Stems

Each Element has a Yin and Yang component, each balancing the other as in the nature Yin-Yang.

If Yang rises, Yin depresses

If Yin rises, Yang depresses

If Yang depresses, Yin rises

If Yin depresses, Yang rises

This produces a complementary and opposite balance within each Element.

Ten Celestial Stems Creation Cycle

The arrangement of the Ten Celestial Stems following the tendencies of the Creative Cycle shows how the Yang aspects create each other and the Yin aspects create each other.

Were there no check on the tendencies to create, the result would be a compounding increase of the energies from one Element to the other.

One way this is checked and balanced is by the Yin and Yang aspects of each Element throughout the system balancing each other.

Another way the system remains in balance is by the Yin or Yang aspect of any Element balancing on the Controlling Cycle the Yang or Yin aspect of the Element it controls.

These tendencies are shown here.

Ten Celestial Stems

Controlling Cycle Balances

The balances are bi-directional following a Yin-Yang pattern. If Yin increases Yang decreases and vice versa.

Wood Yin created by Water Yin creates Fire Yin.

Fire Yin creates Earth Yin creating Metal Yin, which creates Water Yin.

The Yang aspects are similar to the above Yin energetics.

The whole system is a delicate balance of all the parts.

In perfect harmony, this system continues to generate and maintain itself, but if any disharmony or imbalance occurs anywhere in the system, any number of transformations of this imbalance can occur.

The influence of transformations may produce symptoms considered as adverse effects. Some transformations have no symptoms.

The Yin-Yang energetics of any Element can affect the other Element in a way depending on the relative strength of either Yin or Yang.

Balance is the key to harmony.

I would like to quote a passage from the Lu Shih Chhun Chhiu. The author of this quote stresses very elegantly the importance of movement and the dangers of stagnation.

“The reason the water in the stream remains vital, yet stationary water does not, and the hinge does not age, yet the rest of the door does, is because they are moving.

The relationship of the form and Chi is the same.

If the form does not move, the Jing does not stream. If the Jing does not stream the Chi becomes stagnant.

If the stagnation is in the head, it becomes like a tumour or like wind. If the stagnation is in the ear, it will cause deafness.”

In the Lun Hung from 82 or 83 AD, Chhung points out, “Disease is like confusion and chaos. The Jing and Shen become confused and mixed up.”

The Huai Nan Tzu emphasizes the complementary view. Order is the “passing through without disturbance” that enables action.

I have found this relationship, using the Ten Stems to be a vital and integral approach and to be a much better guide to energetics, symptoms, disease and diagnosis.

The exciting implication of this is that if we understand this order and facilitate it, we become more capable.

Authors Note

Movement is certainly a key to wellbeing. However, the spiritual, emotional and physical parts of the body are linked.

If one tries to improve the physical only then eventually the system will collapse – yang cannot exist without yin.

The reason for this article was to put my opinion forward about the integrity of yin and yang and the myriad of tendencies(relative energy) associated with each and to make the reader aware that not only yin and yang, negative and positive, hard and soft, strong and weak exists but that there are infinite relative energies between these opposites.

As in the various lines of a magnetic field there are strong and weak areas between the opposite poles and at all distances between the opposites and so the infinite tendencies between yin and yang has its counterpart in fluctuating strengths of energy – always moving.

So the compelling argument for movement is made – all things must move. If joints do not move, they solidify. If blood does not flow in the right way then there is stagnation. If the lungs do not breathe then there is no Qi and death follows. It is also not enough to think and not do – there must be some transformation of thought into the physical by doing.

Balance in all activity is necessary for optimum health.
